As the global Angus community prepares to gather in Brisbane for the World Angus Forum on May 7-8, 2025, Australian producers are talking about how advanced reproductive technologies from Vytelle are helping achieve industry sustainability goals.
The World Angus Forum, returning to Australia after 27 years, will highlight the industry’s progress toward Carbon Neutral 2030 initiatives. Vytelle’s precision phenotyping and reproductive technologies are playing a pivotal role in this transformation, as demonstrated by success stories like 3D Genetics and Landfall Angus.
Joe Grose of 3D Genetics has leveraged the feed efficiency platform Vytelle SENSE™ and hormone-free IVF reproductive technology Vytelle ADVANCE™ to dramatically improve productivity, pregnancy rates and beef value across his herd. Within just 18 months of implementing Vytelle’s solutions, 3D Genetics has recorded a 15% improvement in feed efficiency and an 8% increase in pregnancy rates.
At Landfall Angus, Frank Archer has been able to achieve a 59% conception rate from 172 frozen embryos and the expectation of increased calf numbers per heifer. By using Vytelle’s IVF, Landfall Angus heifers now produce up to three live calves by two years of age – doubling their output compared to conventional methods. This efficiency allows the Archers to fast-track genetic gain by shortening generation intervals and maximising elite genetics.
“Our Australian Angus clients are leading the way in data-driven breeding decisions,” said Andrew Donoghue, Vytelle’s Regional Director for Australia and New Zealand. “They’re using our technologies to select for animals that convert feed more efficiently, which directly reduces their carbon footprint while improving their bottom line.”
Vytelle SENSE measures individual feed intake and weight gain without disrupting natural animal behavior, enabling producers to identify elite animals expressing economically and environmentally important traits. Combined with Vytelle’s hormone-free IVF technology, breeders can rapidly multiply genetics that reduce methane emissions while improving productivity.
“The company collaborates with universities and research institutes across Australia and globally to further innovate in cattle genetics and reproduction. These partnerships have accelerated the development of Vytelle’s precision technologies while providing researchers with valuable data to address industry-wide challenges in breeding for reduced emissions and improved feed efficiency.
As cattle producers worldwide face increasing pressure to meet sustainability targets, Vytelle’s data-driven approach empowers farmers with actionable insights that optimise breeding decisions and reduce environmental impacts.
In one of the harshest environments in the world, Australian producers are leveraging Vytelle’s hormone-free IVF process to produce high-quality beef while advancing toward carbon neutrality. This technology will be on display during ovum pick-up (OPU) demonstrations at AngusEXPO in Tamworth on 3 and 4 May at 10.45am, at the Vytelle exhibition booth.
The World Angus Forum will highlight how these technologies are being applied both in Australia and globally. As proud sponsors of the Forum, Vytelle representatives will be in attendance to showcase how their solutions can help Angus breeders worldwide accelerate genetic progress toward more efficient, sustainable production systems.
Following the World Angus Forum, Vytelle is hosting a Feed Efficiency Day on Friday 9 May at the Jindalee Hotel in Queensland. This half-day event will feature industry leaders including CEO Kerryann Kocher, Chief Science Officer Dr. Jason Osterstock, and success stories such as Joe Grose of 3D Genetics. Attendees will gain exclusive insights into precision cattle management, data-driven breeding decisions, and the latest innovations in feed efficiency technology. The event will conclude with a tour of a Vytelle ADVANCE IVF lab, showcasing the hormone-free reproductive technology that has helped Australian producers like Landfall Angus achieve remarkable improvements in genetic progress.
