Bishop Joins Vytelle as Director of Strategy

Industry leader in genetic and reproductive technology joins emerging business

Hermiston, Oregon (January 22, 2019)—Vytelle announced today the addition of Michael D. Bishop, Ph.D., as Director of Strategy. In this role he will be responsible for helping set the direction for Vytelle, growing partnerships globally and increasing market penetration. Bishop has worked in a consulting role with Vytelle to introduce the rebranded company into the market and will continue in a full-time capacity.

“Bishop brings extensive experience in launching new and innovative reproductive technology to the livestock industry,” said Ian Hamilton, Vytelle chairman. “His experience is an asset as we continue to grow our business in the United State and globally.”

Most notably, Bishop helped pioneer bovine cloning while at Infigen and helped publish the first genetic linkage map for cattle while at USDA. Additional experience includes working with global organizations to implement genomic selections into breeding programs as Senior Market Development Specialist with Illumina, leading a team at Conklin Company to launch a new direct-fed microbial product for the livestock industry, and implementing a DNA-marker-based selection system for dairy and beef bulls while Director of Research at ABS Global. He holds a doctorate in animal breeding and genetics from The Ohio State University.
